Specifically different from Greater Butterfly by the position of the "pollinia", but generally different by its choice of acidic heath and bog, its smaller size and the fact that it comes out a few weeks later than its cousin. It is also extremely rare in Dorset - I have only seen a small group in a boggy part of Hartland Moor, near Poole Harbour.
